History

bewidata Unternehmensberatung und EDV-Service GmbH was founded in 1986 in Eching as a subsidiary of Deutscher Möbel-Verbund (“German Furniture Association”). Initially, the objectives were the development of an enterprise resource planning solution for mid-sized furniture retailers as well as business management consulting.

From 1987 on, bewidata has been marketing a merchandise management system for the first time.

In 1990, bewidata took over the centralized settlement for Deutscher Möbel-Verbund and its successor company EUROPA-MÖBEL Verbund-GmbH & Co. KG (EMV), including del credere protection vis-à-vis the EMV’s contract suppliers. During the same year, the company moved to Mainz.

In 1991, MÖBEL MANAGER® was launched to the market as a merchandise management system.

The processing of centralized settlements, which had previously been carried out in paper form, became possible online from 1998 as well.

2002 marked the successful market launch of the web-based merchandise management system MÖBELPILOT.

In 2005, the corporate association between EUROPA-MÖBEL Verbund-GmbH & Co. KG and bewidata was terminated. Since then, bewidata has been operating on the market as an independent company.

In 2006, a new version of the merchandise management system – MÖBELPILOT 2.0. bewidata welcomed its 100th client the year after, when the system was installed at the furniture company Tegro Home Company.

In 2007, bewidata assumed the function of the central regulator for the Austrian purchasing association DIY-Einkauf-Marketing-GmbH from the building materials industry.

In 2009, bewidata assumed the function of central regulator for the newly founded EMV subsidiary “Küchen Spezialverbund GmbH & Co. KG” (KSV), including del credere protection vis-à-vis the KSV’s contract suppliers.

In addition to the already existing extensive security measures, the centralized settlement operations received emergency rooms for the first time in 2009 and 2010.

These are externally rented, fully equipped offices with appropriate IT equipment in order to guarantee the seamless continuation of the centralized settlement function in the event of an emergency – for example, due to a fire. During annual emergency exercises, the bewidata team trains the behavior in case of an emergency.

Since 2011, the range of services provided by the centralized settlement system has been expanded by providing comprehensive intercompany comparisons based on key business and financial figures.

From 2014 on, the consulting services of bewidata have been extended by the “location and market potential analysis”, and with the release of version 6.0 of the merchandise management system MÖBELPILOT, a redesign was implemented.

In 2015, a further innovation was introduced by extending the standard centralized settlement procedure by the “original procedure centralized settlement”, so that the archiving of the original invoice documents could be provided by bewidata as an additional service.

In 2016, the centralized settlement function was extended by model recording and evaluation. The statistical evaluation of turnovers became thus possible down to the level of the model.

In 2017/2018, bewidata rented new modern emergency rooms, which have been adapted to the increased requirements regarding equipment and size.

In 2018, the number of participants in the original centralized settlement procedure was increased – also in other European countries – so that the capacities were further expanded by the acquisition of a third high-performance scanner.

In 2019, bewidata continued to grow by providing the services of centralized settlement together including del credere protection visa-vis IMG’s contract suppliers to the Dutch group “Internationale Meubel Groep Holding B.V.”.
